A focused Android utility with a system-level integration, a widget, one-time in-app purchase, and a lean Cloudflare backend for billing and telemetry.Ein fokussiertes Android-Tool mit Systemintegration, Widget, Einmalkauf in der App und schlankem Cloudflare-Backend für Abrechnung und Telemetrie.
What is ReNotify?
ReNotify records every notification that reaches the phone: app, title, message, and exact time. Swiped one away too fast or cleared the whole bar? It is still there, searchable and grouped by app. What sets it apart from a plain notification log is the way back: any entry can be pushed back into the notification bar with its original timestamp and the original app icon, tapping it opens the source app. Notifications can also be snoozed like an alarm ("in one hour", "tomorrow morning", or an exact time), and users can write their own reminders that live in the notification bar. Home-screen widgets show what came in. The code is open source under GPLv3, and the open source edition has every feature free.
The problem we set out to solve.
Android throws dismissed notifications away for good, and the apps that log them are either cluttered with ads or upload everything to a server. We wanted a tool that is honest about data (everything stays on the device, no account, statistics only with consent), that survives the aggressive battery managers on Samsung, Xiaomi and friends, and that pays for itself with a single one-time purchase instead of a subscription.
How we built it.
A Kotlin app with Jetpack Compose and Room. A NotificationListenerService captures incoming notifications and stores them locally; a repost module rebuilds them with the original channel, icon, timestamp, and deep link. Snooze and custom reminders run through exact alarms, and home-screen widgets show the latest entries or a count for today. The app walks users through the battery settings of their specific device so capture keeps working. Pro is a one-time purchase through Google Play Billing, with RevenueCat mirroring revenue; a small Cloudflare Worker with D1 receives purchase webhooks and, only from users who agreed, error reports and a daily device ping, so we can see release health without any notification data. The free tier keeps seven days of history, Pro removes the limit and unlocks bulk resend, reminders, custom notifications, unlimited rules, the status bar filter, and CSV export. The open source edition is generated from the same code, with every feature free and no billing.

What we paid attention to.
- 01
Nothing leaves the phone
The whole history lives in a local database. The backend only ever sees purchase events and, from users who agreed, crash reports and a daily ping without any content. The code is open, so anyone can check.
- 02
Resent means resent
A resent notification keeps its original time, icon and tap target, so it behaves exactly like the one that was swiped away.
Where we are today.
ReNotify is live on Google Play at version 1.8.6, with a companion site and blog at re-notify.com in English and German. Pro is a single one-time purchase. The source code is public under GPLv3, and the open source edition has every feature free.
